Description

The Vintage 33cm Bell is a single-light pendant with an amber-tinted glass bell shade suspended within an antique brass frame, mounted on a matching brass canopy and chain. The amber glass diffuses light from a single E27 bulb (sold separately), casting warm honeyed tones across surrounding surfaces whilst the bell-shaped enclosure directs light downward.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and hallway installations where ceiling heights range from 2.4m to 3.5m, the 700-1960mm adjustable drop allows the pendant to be positioned 700-800mm above a dining surface or kitchen worktop depending on the room proportions. The hinged base of the brass frame opens to allow bulb changes without removing the glass shade. The 330mm diameter makes the pendant suitable for narrower installations or grouped runs of two or three pendants spaced 600-800mm apart above longer tables.

The antique brass finish shows intentional patination and tonal variation that mimics aged brass without requiring maintenance, whilst the amber glass is tinted during the moulding process so the colour remains consistent under different lighting conditions. The combined glass and brass metalwork gives the fitting a 3.5kg weight, requiring a secure ceiling rose with appropriate fixings. The lantern-style frame with its curved bail handle and riveted details references early 20th-century industrial lighting adapted for residential use.

The 700mm to 1960mm drop range covers a wide span, so the same pendant works over a low kitchen island or in a taller hallway with the chain shortened or extended during fitting. Warm bulbs between 2200K and 2700K complement the amber glass, deepening the honeyed tone without adding a cool cast. The 33cm diameter keeps the fitting compact enough to hang two or three in a row.

What bulb does it take?

The pendant takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. We suggest pairing this with a 4-8W LED filament bulb at 2200K-2700K to complement the amber glass tint, or a higher-output 10-15W LED at 2700K-3000K for task lighting above a dining table or kitchen island.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, when paired with a dimmable E27 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. The pendant itself has no electronic components that would prevent dimming. Dimmer compatibility depends entirely on the bulb you choose.

Can the glass shade be removed for cleaning?

The hinged base of the brass frame opens to allow bulb changes and access to the inside of the glass bell. The shade can be wiped with a soft cloth whilst in place, or fully removed from the frame if deeper cleaning is needed.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 700mm minimum drop suits ceiling heights from 2.4m upward when the pendant is positioned 700-800mm above a dining or work surface. Taller ceilings up to 3.5m can use the full 1960mm drop, or the chain can be shortened during installation to suit intermediate heights.
