Description

The Vetra is a 30cm opal glass pendant light built around a frosted globe suspended from a matt black angled metal arm. The arm bends at a sharp geometric angle before joining the sphere at a black flat-disc fitting, giving the pendant a graphic offset profile rather than a straight vertical drop. A single E27 lamp holder sits inside the globe, with the opal glass acting as the diffuser.

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables, hallways and bedside positions, the offset arm allows the globe to be positioned slightly away from the ceiling fixing point. Total height is 70.2cm with a 150cm cable that can be shortened on installation. The pendant works well hung solo over a side table or repeated in a row of two or three above a longer dining bench or kitchen island.

The opal glass is fully frosted rather than clear, so the bulb itself is hidden and the entire sphere glows evenly when lit. The matt black finish on the steel arm has a low sheen that holds its line against pale walls and pairs cleanly with smoked oak, brushed stone, concrete and darker contemporary palettes. At 3kg the fitting is light enough for standard plasterboard ceiling fixings with appropriate anchors.

What bulb does it take?

The Vetra takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this pendant with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to match the soft diffusion of the opal glass.

Can the cable be shortened?

Yes. The 150cm cable can be shortened on installation to set the globe at the right height. For dining tables the globe typically sits 700-800mm above the surface; for kitchen islands 750-900mm above the worktop.

Is the bulb visible through the glass?

No. The opal glass is fully frosted, so the bulb is hidden and the entire 30cm sphere glows evenly when lit. This gives a softer, more diffused light than clear-glass globe pendants.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

The total drop is 70.2cm at full cable length, so the pendant suits ceiling heights of 2.4m or above. The cable can be shortened during installation if a tighter drop is needed for lower ceilings or above a kitchen island.
