Description

The Venus-2 is a 250mm outdoor wall light with a die-cast aluminium body powder-coated in grey, housing a white acrylic diffuser that emits light through two horizontal apertures and a downward-facing slot. The fitting takes one E27 bulb (sold separately) and carries an IP44 rating for protection against dust and water splashes, making it suitable for patios, garden walls, porches and covered walkways.

Designed for residential and light commercial outdoor installation, the Venus-2 provides ambient light across horizontal surfaces (paths, decking, steps) and creates a soft upward wash on vertical surfaces (walls, fences). The 120mm projection from the wall and the horizontal aperture design mean the light sits close to the mounting surface without protruding far into walkways. The fitting mounts on a standard UK outdoor back box and is compatible with dimmer switches when paired with a dimmable E27 LED bulb.

The die-cast aluminium construction resists corrosion in outdoor environments and the powder-coated grey finish provides a neutral backdrop that pairs with brick, render, timber cladding and painted masonry in both modern and traditional settings. The white acrylic diffuser softens the bulb's output and distributes light evenly through the three apertures, avoiding harsh shadows or glare. What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm (dust and debris) and water splashes from any direction. The Venus-2 is suitable for covered outdoor locations such as porches, eaves and pergolas, but should not be fully exposed to driving rain or direct water jets. For fully exposed positions, an IP54 or IP65-rated fitting would be more appropriate.

What bulb should I use?

The fitting takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately). For outdoor use, a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K provides good illumination and longevity. Ensure the bulb you choose is dimmable if you plan to use a dimmer switch.

Can the light direction be adjusted?

No. The Venus-2 is a fixed wall light that emits light through horizontal apertures (upward and downward) and a downward-facing slot. The light pattern cannot be adjusted once the fitting is installed.

How is it mounted?

The fitting mounts on a standard UK outdoor back box with two fixing screws. The 120mm projection means it sits relatively close to the wall surface once installed. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in compliance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.
