Description

The Velum is a 250mm circular wall or flush ceiling light with a sandblasted glass diffuser held in place by three chrome-plated metal clips. The light takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately) behind the sandblasted glass, which softens direct glare and distributes an even wash across walls or ceilings. The chrome clips use a spring-loaded locking system, allowing the glass to be removed for bulb changes without tools.

Designed for dual mounting — either flush to a ceiling or as a wall light — the Velum suits hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms (IP20, dry zones only), and living rooms where a compact, unobtrusive fitting is needed. At 250mm diameter the light provides enough spread for a 2-3m hallway or a bedside position without dominating the wall. The white metal back plate and chrome clips give a clean, minimalist appearance that pairs with both contemporary and mid-century interiors.

The sandblasted finish on the glass creates a translucent white surface when unlit and a soft, diffused glow when the bulb is on. The glass thickness and spring clip system give the fitting enough mass to feel substantial without the bulk of larger ceiling plates. Dimmable when paired with a compatible E27 LED bulb and dimmer switch, allowing control over light levels for different times of day or room uses.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating means the Velum is suitable only for dry bathroom zones (zone 3 or outside zones), such as above a vanity area at least 600mm from a shower enclosure. It is not rated for use directly above a bath or inside a shower.

What bulb does it take?

The Velum takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair it with a 6-10W warm-white LED for efficient, long-life operation. Dimmable LEDs are recommended if dimming control is needed.

How is the glass removed for bulb changes?

The three chrome clips are spring-loaded. Push each clip inward to release the tension, then lift the glass diffuser away from the back plate. Reverse the process to re-clip the glass after changing the bulb.

What size room does it suit?

At 250mm diameter, the Velum works best in hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms and compact living spaces up to 10-12m². For larger rooms or higher ceilings, consider using multiple Velum fittings spaced evenly or pairing with additional light sources.
