Description

The Velox is a 20A 3-pin lighting connector with push-fit terminals housed in a translucent purple polycarbonate case. The connector accepts 1.0-2.5mm² cables into spring-loaded terminals that grip the conductor without requiring screw fixing, and a separate earth terminal is included for protective bonding. The translucent housing allows visual inspection of cable insertion depth without opening the connector.

Designed for loop-in-loop-out wiring in ceiling voids and under-floor cable runs, the Velox suits installations where lighting circuits need to be joined or extended without accessible junction boxes. The 148mm x 48mm x 23mm case is large enough to accommodate multiple cable entries and provides working space for stripping and inserting conductors on-site. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations away from direct water exposure.

The push-fit terminal mechanism is maintenance-free once cables are inserted — there are no screws to re-tighten during periodic inspection. The polycarbonate construction withstands impact and heat generated by typical lighting loads up to the 20A rating (4,600W at 230V). The translucent purple colour differentiates the Velox from standard white junction boxes, making it easy to identify during later maintenance or circuit tracing.

What cable sizes does the Velox accept?

The push-fit terminals accept 1.0mm² to 2.5mm² cables. This covers standard UK lighting circuit cable (1.0mm² and 1.5mm²) and can also accommodate 2.5mm² ring-main cable where lighting circuits are tapped from power circuits, though this is less common in modern installations.

How many cables can be connected?

The Velox is designed for loop-in-loop-out wiring, so it typically handles one incoming cable and one outgoing cable on each terminal. The large case size allows some flexibility for additional connections where needed, but check the datasheet for the maximum number of conductors per terminal.

Can it be used outdoors or in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the connector is suitable only for dry indoor locations with no direct water exposure. It cannot be used in outdoor locations, bathrooms, or anywhere subject to condensation or moisture ingress.

Do the terminals require periodic re-tightening?

No. Push-fit terminals are maintenance-free. Once a cable is inserted correctly, the spring mechanism maintains contact pressure without needing inspection or re-tightening during periodic electrical testing.
