Description

The Vela is a 54cm three-light crystal chandelier built on a French gold frame with three curved arms, each holding a candle-style E14 bulb beneath a crystal bobeche. Concave-cut crystal droplets hang from the arms and central stem, and the warm gold finish on the metalwork gives the fitting a classical appearance without the high polish of bright gold or the antiquing of aged brass.

Designed for dining rooms, bedrooms and entrance halls where ceiling height allows a 810mm minimum drop, the Vela works in rooms from 3m by 3m upwards without dominating the space. The 1760mm maximum drop allows the chandelier to be lowered in double-height hallways or over staircases, with the chain and cable concealed within the central stem. The fitting takes three E14 candle bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately), and is compatible with dimmable LED or halogen bulbs when paired with a suitable dimmer.

The concave-cut crystals are faceted in a way that creates broader light dispersion than standard round-cut crystals, so even with three bulbs the chandelier produces noticeable refracted light patterns on walls and ceilings when lit. The French gold finish sits between polished brass and antique brass in tone — warmer than chrome or nickel but cooler than aged copper — and pairs well with warm whites, creams, and grey-based colour schemes. At 3kg the chandelier requires secure ceiling fixings into a joist or a ceiling rose rated for the weight.

The chandelier takes three E14 small Edison screw candle bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a traditional look that matches the French gold finish.

Is the Vela dimmable?

Yes, when fitted with dimmable bulbs. The fitting itself is passive and will work with any dimmer that matches the bulb type you choose — typically a trailing-edge LED dimmer for modern LED candle bulbs.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 810mm from ceiling to the lowest crystal requires a ceiling height of approximately 2.4m or above to maintain reasonable headroom underneath. The drop is adjustable up to 1760mm for higher ceilings or stairwell installations.

How is the chandelier secured to the ceiling?

At 3kg the Vela requires secure fixings into a ceiling joist or a ceiling rose rated for the weight. The fitting includes a chain and canopy but does not include ceiling fixings — if your ceiling is plasterboard without joists at the desired location, a specialist hollow-wall fixing or spreading plate will be needed.
