Description

The Vela is a single-arm crystal wall light built around a polished chrome scrollwork frame with two pear-cut crystal droplets suspended on fine chain. A central crystal sconce holds the E14 candle bulb fitting, positioned 230mm from the wall on the curved chrome arm. The chrome backplate measures 110mm wide and mounts directly to a standard UK wall box.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms and living room accent lighting, the Vela provides decorative rather than task illumination. The single E14 bulb (sold separately, up to 60W) casts light through the crystal sconce and reflects off the polished chrome scrollwork, creating soft ambient light and wall wash. The 370mm height suits positioning at 1.5-1.8m from floor level, either as a standalone accent or in symmetrical pairs flanking a mirror, doorway or headboard.

The polished chrome finish provides high reflectivity that amplifies the light from the bulb and the refraction from the crystal droplets. Each pear-cut crystal is machine-faceted to create multiple internal reflections, so the droplets sparkle under both natural daylight and electric light. The scrollwork arm curves in a classical S-shape, referencing traditional chandelier design but scaled to a compact 230mm projection suitable for narrower hallways and beside-bed positions where a deeper projection would obstruct movement.

The Vela uses a single E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose a warm-white LED candle bulb between 4-6W and 2700K for ambient bedroom or hallway lighting. Flame-tip or clear filament bulbs show through the crystal sconce and add decorative detail when lit.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, provided you fit a dimmable E14 bulb and pair it with a compatible dimmer switch. The fitting itself has no dimmer circuitry — dimming is controlled at the wall switch or by the bulb type (some smart LED bulbs have app-controlled dimming).

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The Vela carries no IP rating, so it is not suitable for bathroom zones where moisture or steam is present. It can be used in a hallway leading to a bathroom or in a dressing room outside the bathroom perimeter.

How is the crystal cleaned?

Wipe the crystal droplets gently with a dry microfibre cloth. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable. Avoid household sprays or polishes, as residue can dull the facets and reduce refraction.
