Description

The Vega is a 140mm round LED surface downlight with an integrated 15W 3000K LED mounted inside a white aluminium cylindrical housing. The 70mm projection from the ceiling gives the fitting a drum profile that mounts directly to the ceiling surface without needing a recessed cavity. The LED sits behind a microprismatic diffuser that spreads light evenly across the space below while minimising glare.

Designed for residential kitchens, hallways, bathrooms (IP20 rating limits use to zones outside splash areas), and commercial offices, retail spaces and corridors where ceiling void depth is limited or non-existent. The surface-mount configuration means the Vega can be fitted to solid ceilings, beneath joists, or in refurbishment projects where cutting recesses is impractical. The 15W output suits rooms of 8-12m² as primary lighting or larger spaces when used in multiples.

The aluminium body is powder-coated in matt white, blending into standard white ceilings or providing a clean accent against coloured or textured ceiling finishes. The CRI90 rating ensures accurate colour rendering, making the Vega suitable for spaces where colour perception matters: makeup application in bathrooms, food preparation in kitchens, product display in retail, or design work in home offices. The 3000K colour temperature gives a warm white tone that softens interiors compared to cooler 4000K+ commercial LEDs.

Can the Vega be used in bathrooms?

The IP20 rating means it is not protected against moisture ingress. In bathrooms the Vega must be installed outside zones 0, 1 and 2 — typically this means at least 600mm away from the bath or shower enclosure and above 2.25m from the floor.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The 15W LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for 25,000+ hours of operation (approximately 12-15 years at typical residential usage), after which the entire fitting would need replacing.

What ceiling fixing is needed?

The Vega mounts directly to the ceiling surface via a backplate with screw fixings. Standard plasterboard fixings or direct fixing into joists or concrete depending on ceiling type. The driver is housed within the fitting so no separate control gear box is needed.

Is it dimmable?

The Vega LED is not dimmable. It operates at full 15W output when switched on. For applications needing dimming control, consider specifying a separate dimmable driver version if available from Maytoni or choosing an alternative downlight model.
