Description
The Vanguard is a 512mm hexagonal chandelier built around a steel frame finished in old black, housing four E14 candelabra-style bulbs arranged symmetrically within the open geometric frame. The hexagon structure measures 512mm across both width and depth, creating a substantial angular presence that reads as both industrial and architectural rather than purely decorative.
Designed for dining areas, kitchen islands and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Vanguard provides both ambient and decorative function. The drop is adjustable between 433mm and 1386mm on installation, allowing the chandelier to be positioned 700-900mm above a dining table or work surface depending on ceiling height. A convertible design allows the fitting to be installed as a semi-flush mount in rooms with lower ceilings, reducing the drop to 433mm while retaining the geometric frame.
The old black finish is a textured, slightly weathered steel surface rather than a smooth powder coat, giving the metal visible grain and tonal variation that softens the industrial form. The open hexagonal frame allows light from the four bulbs to cast shadows and outlines onto surrounding walls and ceilings, amplifying the geometric structure after dark. Each E14 socket takes bulbs up to 40W (sold separately), with filament-style LED bulbs commonly paired to keep the exposed bulbs visible within the frame.
The steel construction gives the chandelier a solid 3.5-4kg weight, requiring secure ceiling fixing into a joist or using a suitable ceiling plate rated for the load. The Vanguard pairs with both industrial interiors (exposed brick, concrete, metal fixtures) and warmer traditional settings where the hexagonal geometry acts as a counterpoint to softer furnishings.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take?
The Vanguard takes four E14 (small Edison screw) candelabra bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most buyers pair this with warm-white filament-style LED bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K to keep the bulbs visible within the open frame.
Can it be fitted to low ceilings?
Yes. The fitting converts from a pendant chandelier to a semi-flush mount, reducing the drop to 433mm for rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m. The hexagonal frame remains fully visible in semi-flush configuration.
What ceiling height is needed for pendant installation?
For pendant installation above a dining table, a ceiling height of 2.4m or above is recommended to allow 700-900mm clearance above the table surface. The drop is adjustable between 433mm and 1386mm during fitting.
How heavy is the chandelier?
The steel frame and canopy weigh approximately 3.5-4kg. The ceiling fixing must be into a joist or use a suitable ceiling plate rated for this load. Do not rely on plasterboard alone.
