Description

The Vamorne is a single pendant light in black steel, pared right back to a round ceiling rose, a slim black cord and an open cylindrical lampholder held in a square bracket. It stands 150cm tall overall and the ceiling rose is 10.5cm across, so it reads as a fine vertical line in the room rather than a bulky shade. It takes an E27 bulb of up to 40W, and the bulb is not included, which leaves the final look entirely in your hands. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

With no shade, the bulb itself becomes the feature, so this black pendant light suits a decorative globe or filament bulb you are happy to have on show. We like it above a side table beside a reading chair, beside a bed, or in a hallway, and several in a row work well over a kitchen island or a dining table. The pared-back steel sits comfortably in industrial, Scandinavian and modern rooms alike, and because the ceiling rose is so small, it keeps the ceiling looking clean and uncluttered. It is a good choice for anyone who wants a simple, honest pendant that lets a well-chosen bulb do the talking.

The body is steel with a black finish, and the lampholder is held between short pins on either side of its square bracket, a neat detail that gives it a slightly workshop feel. There is no switch on the light itself; it is switched at the wall, so it works from the light switch you already have. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains and weighs 0.524KG packed. As a light that is wired into the mains, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. When you buy a bulb, choose an E27 cap at 40W or less.
