Description
A large round bulb with a soft opal finish, this one reads as a glowing sphere rather than a bright point. It measures 12cm across the widest part of the globe, so it fills the mouth of a wide shade and looks right left on show at the end of a flex. The opal surface spreads the light evenly and takes the hard edge off it, and the warm white 2700K output has the yellow warmth people expect from an old filament lamp. It draws 8W and screws into a standard E27 lampholder.
We reach for a globe this size where the bulb is part of the look: open pendants, cage frames, a run of drops over a kitchen island, or a table lamp with a wide shade. It suits bedrooms, snugs and dining rooms, anywhere you want a low, easy light rather than working brightness. It is not dimmable, so it wants a plain on or off switch rather than a dimmer. It runs on the ordinary mains and belongs in lampholders indoors.
The opal globe is smooth all over, with the screw cap set neatly at the base, and the finish stays a quiet off-white when the lamp is off. It carries a five year warranty. For dust, wait until the lamp is off and no longer warm, then wipe the globe with a dry cloth, keeping moisture well away from the cap. The light source is built in, so there is nothing inside to change. We would hang a few at staggered heights over a dining table rather than one on its own, and keep every lamp in a room to the same warm white so the light matches from fitting to fitting.

Frequently Asked
How much light does it give?
It produces 965 lumens at 2700K warm white, softened and spread by the opal outer, so the brightness arrives as a gentle glow rather than a hotspot.
What are the exact dimensions?
The globe is 120mm in diameter and the bulb stands 165mm tall overall, cap included, so allow for that depth inside a shade.
Can I put it on a dimmer switch?
No. This one is non-dimmable and should be run from a standard on or off switch.
How long is it rated to last, and is it guaranteed?
Average life is 15,000 hours, and it carries a five year warranty.
Will it fit my lamp?
It has an E27 large screw cap, the most common fitting on UK table lamps and pendants. Check the shade or holder can take a 120mm sphere before ordering.
