Description
A big gold globe with the LED sealed inside the glass, sitting on a standard E27 screw cap. At 12cm across it reads as part of the fitting rather than a bulb to be hidden, and the light is a deep amber 2200K, warmer than most warm white lamps and close to the glow of an old filament. Draw is 8W. It is not dimmable, so give it a plain on/off switch rather than a trailing dimmer.
We reach for globes like this where the bulb is on show: open cage pendants, a bare flex over a kitchen island, a cluster above a dining table, or a wall light with no shade at all. The amber tone flatters brick, timber and dark paint, and it does its best work in the evening, so it suits snugs, bars and hallways more than a desk where you need to read small print. Anyone replacing a squirrel cage filament lamp that has finally gone will recognise the colour straight away.
The body is glass with gold worked through the tint, so the warm cast holds whether the bulb is lit or resting. Keep a dry cloth for the glass and let it cool before you handle it; sprays and kitchen cleaners can mark the finish, so save those for the fitting itself. It carries a five year warranty. We stock it because a fitting with the bulb on display lives or dies by the bulb, and this is the one we would choose for a plain black pendant or a brass wall light where the glass is clearly meant to be seen. Bought in twos or threes along a bar or a run of pendants, the amber reads as one continuous glow rather than a set of separate points.

Frequently Asked
How bright is it?
It gives 806 lumens, spread right around the globe thanks to a 360 degree output, so there is no dark side to the bulb.
Can I use it on a dimmer?
No. It is a non-dimmable bulb and should be run from a standard switch. On a dimmer circuit it may flicker or buzz.
What size is it overall?
The globe is 120mm in diameter and the bulb stands 165mm tall including the E27 cap, so check the depth of any shade before ordering.
How long should it last?
It is rated at 15,000 hours of average life.
Why does it look yellower than my other LED bulbs?
At 2200K it is an extra warm white, several steps below the usual 2700K warm white. That amber cast is deliberate and mimics an old filament lamp.
Is the gold a coating that can rub off?
The colour is in the glass rather than painted on the outside, so normal dusting with a dry cloth will not take it off.
