Description
A round globe lamp finished in opal, so the light spreads softly and evenly instead of showing a bright point behind the diffuser. The sphere is 80mm across, big enough to read as a globe where it hangs in the open, small enough to sit inside a shade without crowding it. Power draw is 6.5W, and the tone is a cool white 4000K: crisp and neutral, closer to daylight than to the yellow of an old filament lamp. The E27 cap screws into standard large screw-cap holders.
It is dimmable, though it needs a dimmer rated for LED lamps to run smoothly, and no dimmer comes with it. We use this cool white where the work matters more than the mood: kitchen pendants over an island, a utility room, a home office, a landing or hallway pendant that needs to feel bright rather than cosy. The all-round output suits open shades, plain pendants and exposed holders where the lamp is on show from below and from the side. If you prefer a softer, more restful light in a sitting room or bedroom, a warmer white will serve you better there.
The opal finish diffuses the light across the whole body of the lamp, and it is even from cap to crown, so there is no bright band or obvious hot spot when you look straight at it. It is light in the hand and easy to handle when swapping. To clean, switch off at the socket, wait for the lamp to lose its heat, then wipe it over with a dry cloth; skip sprays and solvents, which mark an opal surface. It carries a three year warranty. We keep this one as our default globe for rooms that want clear, neutral light.

Frequently Asked
How much light does it give out?
It produces 806 lumens, roughly what people expect from an old 60W globe lamp, and the output is spread right around the sphere rather than thrown in one direction.
Will it dim on my existing dimmer?
It dims on a dimmer suited to LED lamps. Older dimmers designed for filament lamps can cause flicker or limit the low end of the range, so check the dimmer's rating for LED loads. No dimmer is supplied.
What are the overall dimensions?
The globe is 80mm in diameter and 111mm tall, measured including the E27 cap.
Is 4000K too cool for a bedroom?
Many people find it too crisp for a bedroom or sitting room, where a warmer white feels more restful. It comes into its own in kitchens, utility rooms, home offices and hallways.
How long is it rated to last?
The rated average life is 15,000 hours, and it carries a three year warranty.
How should I clean it?
Switch off, let it cool fully, then wipe the opal surface with a dry cloth. Avoid cleaning sprays and solvents, and never wet the cap.
