Description
A clear globe measuring 95mm across, this gives the round, generous shape people want when the bulb itself is part of the look. It draws 6.5W and returns 806 lumens, so it stands in for a traditional filament globe without the heat or the running cost. The warm white 2700K tone keeps the light on the soft side rather than the crisp side, and light comes off the whole globe rather than in one direction. It is not dimmable, so it wants a plain on and off switch.
We reach for globes at this size in open pendants, bare flex drops and cluster fittings over a dining table, where a smaller bulb tends to look lost in the space it hangs in. It suits ceiling roses left shade free, bedside pendants, kitchen island runs and hallway fittings with a wide open bottom. The warm tone flatters rooms used mostly in the evening, so sitting rooms, snugs and bedrooms are the obvious homes for it. If your circuit runs through a dimmer, ask us for a dimmable option instead and keep this one for switched lighting.
The clear finish hides nothing, so the globe reads as a bright point of light with a visible interior, which is exactly why it is chosen for fittings that show the bulb off. It uses the common larger screw cap and runs straight off the mains with no driver or transformer to find room for. A clear globe shows dust sooner than a frosted one, so turn it off, let it go cold and give it a wipe now and then to keep the glass looking clean. In a multi-light fitting we would put the same globe in every holder, because mixing clear and opal bulbs on one frame never quite settles.

Frequently Asked
How bright is it compared with an old-fashioned bulb?
It produces 806 lumens from 6.5W, which is the familiar brightness of a 60W incandescent bulb of the same globe shape.
What size is the globe?
It is 95mm in diameter and 130mm tall overall, including the cap, so allow for that depth inside any shade.
Can I use it with a dimmer switch?
No. This one is non-dimmable and should be run from a standard switch. On a dimmer circuit it may flicker, buzz or fail early.
What colour is the light?
Warm white at 2700K, the soft yellow-toned light most people associate with older filament bulbs.
How long should it last?
It is rated at 25,000 hours of average life.
Which cap does it have?
An E27 screw cap, the larger of the two common screw fittings.
