Description

Big, round and completely clear, this is a globe lamp made to be looked at rather than hidden. The E27 screw cap fits the usual pendant and lamp holders, the shape is a full sphere, and the draw is a modest 4W. The globe is large enough to read as a shape in the room, not just a source of light. Light comes out warm white at 2700K, the softer end of the scale. It is not dimmable, so it wants a plain on-off switch rather than a dimmer plate.

We keep these for pendants where the shade is open or absent and the lamp is part of the look: a bare drop over a kitchen island, a run down a stairwell, a cluster in a hallway. The clear finish sends light all round rather than in one direction, so it works where you want a gentle glow across a whole room instead of a pool on the floor. It suits anyone after warmth in a living room, a bedroom or a dining space; where you need crisp task light for reading, we would choose something cooler and brighter.

The clear finish leaves the light unfiltered, with no coating or tint to soften it, so dust shows sooner here than on an opal lamp.
