Valencia Outdoor Large Up Lantern Black - E27

The Valencia is a large outdoor up lantern in black die-cast aluminium, designed to mount on external walls, porches and covered entrances. The lantern stands 790mm tall with a six-panel glazed enclosure topped by a pointed finial, housing a single E27 bulb (sold separately) that projects light upwards onto the wall surface and surrounding architecture.

The upward light projection suits architectural lighting applications where the aim is to highlight brickwork, render texture, timber cladding or masonry details above the fitting position. The lantern mounts on a 470mm bracket arm that extends the light source away from the wall, giving the upcast light more distance to spread before hitting the vertical surface. The IP54 rating protects internal components from dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making the fitting suitable for exposed UK weather conditions including driving rain.

The die-cast aluminium construction is powder-coated in black and carries a 5-year guarantee with no coastal exclusion, meaning the fitting can be installed in salt-air environments without voiding the warranty. This is unusual for outdoor lighting at this price point and reflects the alloy grade and coating thickness used in the construction. The lantern weighs approximately 2.5kg once assembled and requires fixing to solid masonry or timber with appropriate wall plugs and screws (not supplied). What bulb does it take?

The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K for outdoor ambient lighting.

Can it be used in coastal areas?

Yes. The 5-year guarantee includes no coastal exclusion, meaning the die-cast aluminium and powder-coat finish are rated for salt-air environments. This makes the Valencia suitable for seaside homes and properties within a few miles of the coast.

Does the IP54 rating allow it to be fully exposed to rain?

IP54 protects against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, which covers typical UK rain conditions. The fitting is not submersible (that would require IP67 or higher), but it handles exposed wall positions, driving rain and wet weather without internal damage.

How is it mounted?

The lantern mounts via a metal backplate fixed to the wall with screws (not supplied). The 470mm bracket arm projects from the backplate and the lantern body attaches to the arm. Suitable for solid masonry, brick or timber-framed walls with appropriate fixings.
