Description

The Valencia is a traditional upward-facing outdoor wall lantern in black powder-coated die-cast aluminium, built around a single E27 bulb holder (bulb sold separately). The lantern head sits on a curved bracket and projects 330mm from the wall, with clear glass panels inside the tapered hexagonal frame and a pointed finial on the lid.

Designed for front porches, side entrances, garden walls and pathways, the Valencia casts light upward through the open top and outward through the four glass sides, creating both functional illumination and ambient glow against the wall or soffit above. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction, making the fitting suitable for exposed positions including coastal locations where salt spray and humidity are factors.

The die-cast aluminium construction and powder-coated finish give the lantern corrosion resistance over time, with a 5-year manufacturer's guarantee covering material and finish degradation. The 620mm overall height and 250mm width suit standard UK brick coursing when mounted at typical front-door heights of 1.6-1.8m from ground level. The black finish pairs with both traditional Victorian and Edwardian properties and contemporary render or timber-clad exteriors where a classical accent is wanted.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does the Valencia take?

The lantern takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED candle or filament-style bulb at 6-8W and 2700K for a traditional appearance.

Is it suitable for coastal installation?

Yes. Norlys rates the Valencia as coastal-approved, meaning the die-cast aluminium construction and powder-coated finish are designed to resist corrosion from salt spray and high humidity in UK coastal environments.

Does the light shine upwards or downwards?

The Valencia is an upward-facing lantern. Light exits through the open top and the four glass sides, casting illumination upward onto the wall or soffit above and outward through the glass panels. This creates ambient glow rather than focused downward task lighting.

What's the IP54 rating?

IP54 means the fitting is protected against dust ingress (limited dust, not fully sealed) and water splashing from any direction. This makes it suitable for exposed outdoor positions including under open porches, on garden walls, and at fully exposed front entrances.
