Valencia Large 1 Light Outdoor Pedestal - Black

The Valencia Large is a 730mm outdoor pedestal lantern built from die-cast aluminium with a black powder-coated finish and a six-panel clear glass design. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and splashing water from any direction, making it suitable for gatepost mounting, pathway pillars, patio perimeters and entrance porches exposed to rain. The single E27 fitting accepts bulbs up to 60W (sold separately).

Designed for residential driveways, garden entrances, low boundary walls and stepped pathways, the Valencia provides directed light downward from the 730mm height while the clear glass panels allow some lateral spread. The traditional lantern form with its hexagonal cross-section and pointed finial references Victorian and Edwardian street lighting, pairing comfortably with period properties and cottage-style gardens. The flat square base (320mm wide) mounts onto masonry pillars or timber posts via a central fixing point.

The die-cast aluminium construction resists corrosion in coastal and urban environments without additional treatment beyond the factory powder coat. The black finish hides minor surface marks from weathering and pairs neutrally with brick, stone, painted render and timber cladding. The 5-year guarantee covers manufacturing defects but excludes damage from improper installation or coastal salt spray if mounted within direct sea-breeze exposure. The clear glass panels are replaceable if broken, and the top section lifts off for bulb changes without requiring full dismounting.

What bulb does the Valencia take?

The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Most users fit a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to replicate traditional outdoor lighting appearance. Bulbs are sold separately.

Can it be used in coastal locations?

The die-cast aluminium and powder-coated finish resist corrosion in most coastal environments. However, the 5-year guarantee excludes damage from direct salt-spray exposure within immediate sea-breeze zones. Mounting 50m or more inland from breaking waves is recommended.

How is the bulb accessed for replacement?

The top lantern section (glass panels and roof) lifts off the base pedestal, exposing the E27 socket. No tools are required for bulb changes, though the fitting should be isolated at the mains before opening.

What size mounting pillar is needed?

The 320mm square base suits masonry pillars or timber posts between 200-400mm square. The central fixing point allows mounting onto smaller posts, but the visual proportion works best on pillars closer to the 300mm width of the base itself.
