Description
This hinged metal trinket box takes the form of two cats standing close, one nuzzling the other, with their tails twisted round each other behind them. One cat is a ginger and white tabby with striped legs and a striped ginger tail. The other is mostly white, with a bold black patch on its back, a black and ginger face and a black tail. Both have closed eyes, pink noses and pink inner ears. The whole piece is hand painted over a metal alloy body, with clear sparkling stones dotted across the coats and a gold-coloured rim along the join. It stands 6cm tall, 4cm wide and 6.5cm deep, small enough to sit in your palm.
Lift the top half of the cats and the box opens along the middle on a small hinge. Inside is a bright orange interior with room for a pair of earrings, a ring or a few other tiny keepsakes. We like it on a dressing table or bedside table, where rings come off at the end of the day. It also suits a shelf or windowsill in a living room or bedroom, where the painted detail can be seen up close. Its size means it fits easily among other small pieces without crowding them. It looks just as good closed, as a little ornament, as it does open and in use.
The painted metal is best looked after with a soft dry cloth to lift dust and a lightly damp cloth for any marks, dried straight away. We would keep harsh cleaners well clear so the paint and the sparkling stones stay bright. Open and close it gently by the body rather than by the tails or heads. Tucked away with a ring or a pair of earrings inside, it makes a present that is opened twice: once for the box, and again for what it holds.

How big is the cats trinket box?
It stands 6cm tall, 4cm wide and 6.5cm deep. That is room enough for a ring, a pair of earrings or a few other tiny keepsakes.
What is the trinket box made of?
It is made from a metal alloy and hand painted. Clear sparkling stones are set across both cats' coats, and a gold-coloured rim runs along the opening.
How does the trinket box open?
The top half of the two cats lifts on a small hinge, so the box opens along the middle to show a bright orange interior.
What colours are the cats?
The piece is mostly white. One cat is a ginger and white tabby with striped legs, and the other is white with black patches and a black and ginger face.
How should I clean the painted metal?
Dust it with a soft dry cloth and use a lightly damp cloth for any marks, drying it straight away. Keep harsh cleaners well clear of the paint and stones.
Where would the trinket box look best?
We like it on a dressing table or bedside table to hold rings overnight. It also suits a bedroom or living room shelf as a small ornament.
