Turin 1 Light Outdoor Pedestal Lantern - Black

The Turin is a 470mm tall outdoor pedestal lantern with a die-cast aluminium frame finished in black powder coating, clear glass panels on four sides, and a pyramid roof topped with a sphere finial. The lantern sits on a two-tier square plinth designed to mount on brick pillars, gate posts, or low walls, with a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately) housed inside the glass chamber.

Designed for driveways, garden paths, front entrances and boundary walls, the Turin provides wayfinding and accent light in residential outdoor settings. The IP54 rating protects the fitting against dust ingress and water spray from any direction, making it suitable for exposed positions including coastal locations — Norlys rates this model with no coastal exclusion zone, so it handles salt air without accelerated corrosion. The clear glass maximises light output while the black frame absorbs daylight to sit unobtrusively against brick, stone or rendered pillars.

The die-cast aluminium construction gives the fitting durability without excessive weight — the complete unit weighs approximately 2kg, light enough for straightforward mounting on pier caps or wall brackets. The 200mm square footprint suits standard UK brick pier widths of 225-300mm, and the black powder coating is baked on rather than painted, providing better resistance to chipping and UV fade than wet-applied finishes. Norlys backs the Turin with a 5-year guarantee covering material and finish defects.

What IP rating does it carry and what does IP54 mean?

The Turin carries an IP54 rating. The '5' means it is dust-protected (limited dust ingress that does not interfere with operation), and the '4' means it is splash-proof from any direction. This makes it suitable for outdoor positions exposed to rain but not suitable for submersion or direct high-pressure washing.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to replicate traditional outdoor lantern light.

Can it be used in coastal locations?

Yes. Norlys rates the Turin with no coastal exclusion zone, meaning the die-cast aluminium and powder-coated finish are specified to handle salt air without accelerated corrosion. Regular cleaning with fresh water is still recommended in direct seaside exposure.

How is it mounted?

The two-tier plinth base is designed to sit on top of a brick pier, gate post or low wall, and is fixed through the base with screws into the masonry or post cap. The 200mm square footprint suits standard UK brick pier widths. The cable runs up through the post or down through the wall depending on installation.
