Description

The Truman is a 3-light chandelier from Hinkley with a central column and three curved arms radiating outward, each carrying an etched opal glass shade on an E27 fitting. The frame is finished in antique nickel, which provides a subdued metallic appearance closer to pewter than polished chrome, and the curved arms taper as they extend outward from the centre column before rising to hold each shade.

Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and smaller living spaces with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 3.5m, the chandelier sits 508mm wide and adjusts between a minimum 626mm drop and a maximum 2151mm drop on installation via the 1524mm chain. The three E27 sockets take standard bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose warm-white filament bulbs for traditional interiors or LED equivalents for lower energy use.

The etched opal glass shades diffuse the light evenly downward and outward, reducing glare while maintaining enough brightness for functional dining room or hall illumination. The antique nickel finish on the metalwork shows subtle tonal variation across the surface, giving depth to the finish without the high reflectivity of polished nickel. Cast finials at the base of the column and on each shade holder add decorative weight to the frame.

Is the antique nickel finish different from polished nickel?

Yes. Antique nickel has a darker, muted tone with less reflectivity than polished nickel, closer in appearance to aged pewter. The finish shows subtle tonal variation across the metalwork rather than a uniform mirror shine.

Can the drop height be shortened after installation?

The drop is set during installation by threading the chain and cable through the ceiling rose and securing at the desired length. Once fitted, adjusting the drop requires removing the ceiling rose cover and re-threading the chain, which is typically done during redecorating rather than as a routine adjustment.
