Tropic 2 Light Wall Light Right High - Satin Brass

The Tropic is a 2 light wall light built around a curved brass stem that rises 56cm from a single wall-mounting plate, with two hammered brass semi-circular shades positioned at different heights on opposing arms. Each shade backs a frosted glass globe housing a G9 bulb (sold separately), with the brass leaf acting as a reflector that directs light forward and down while the glass diffuses it softly into the room.

Designed for hallways, staircases and bedroom feature walls where vertical space is available, the 'Right High' configuration positions the taller arm on the right when facing the wall, with the lower arm on the left. This asymmetric arrangement allows two lights to be paired as a mirrored set—one Right High, one Left High—flanking a mirror, artwork or architectural feature. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations away from bathrooms and wet rooms.

The satin brass finish on the metalwork shows a hand-hammered texture across the leaf shades, giving each piece visible surface variation that catches and reflects ambient light differently depending on the room's natural light. The brass develops a natural patina over time if left unpolished. The frosted glass globes are replaceable and the G9 bulb fitting accepts standard capsule bulbs up to 40W, though most users pair this with 3-5W LED equivalents for ambient rather than task lighting.

What bulbs does the Tropic take?

Each arm takes one G9 capsule bulb up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit 3-5W LED G9 bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for ambient lighting. Halogen G9 bulbs are compatible but run hotter and consume more power.

Can it be paired with a matching left-hand version?

Yes. Maytoni produces both a Right High and a Left High version of the Tropic wall light. When mounted as a mirrored pair the asymmetric arms create a symmetrical effect flanking a central feature such as a mirror or headboard.

Is the brass finish sealed or will it tarnish?

The satin brass finish is not lacquered, so it will develop a natural patina over time if left unpolished. This is a characteristic of unlacquered brass. To maintain the original satin tone, wipe occasionally with a dry microfibre cloth and use a brass cleaner sparingly if tarnish appears.

What fixing method does it use?
