Description
The Knightsbridge Tilt is a GU10 fire-rated downlight with a 15° tilt mechanism housed in a white pressed steel bezel. The downlight accepts any standard GU10 LED or halogen bulb up to 35W (sold separately) and uses push-fit terminals for mains connection, eliminating the need for a screwdriver during installation.
Designed for residential and commercial ceiling installation where fire-rated fittings are required by building regulations, the Tilt carries a 30-minute fire rating on web-joists and I-joists, a 60-minute rating on solid timber, and a 90-minute rating on thicker solid timber constructions. The 80mm cut-out diameter fits standard UK downlight apertures, and the 168mm minimum void depth accommodates the upward-projecting lamp holder and terminal block above the ceiling plane.
The 15° tilt allows the lamp to be angled after installation to direct light onto a specific area rather than straight down, making it useful for highlighting artwork, kitchen worktops, or retail display surfaces. The white bezel sits 5mm proud of the ceiling surface once fitted, creating a defined edge around the aperture. The downlight is IC-rated when paired with a 6W LED lamp, meaning it can be covered by loft insulation without overheating.
The push-fit terminals support loop-in/loop-out wiring, allowing multiple downlights to be daisy-chained from a single supply cable run. Dimming capability depends on the GU10 bulb fitted — dimmable LED or halogen bulbs will dim when paired with a compatible mains dimmer switch, while non-dimmable bulbs will not.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling void depth is required?
A minimum 168mm void depth is needed to accommodate the GU10 lamp holder and terminal block above the ceiling surface. The cut-out diameter is 80mm, and the bezel projects 5mm below the ceiling plane once fitted.
What fire rating does it carry?
The downlight is fire-rated for 30 minutes on web-joists and I-joists, 60 minutes on solid timber, and 90 minutes on thicker solid timber constructions. This meets UK building regulations requiring fire-rated downlights in most residential ceiling installations.
Does it include a bulb?
No. The downlight accepts any standard GU10 LED or halogen bulb up to 35W, sold separately. Most users pair it with a 4-6W GU10 LED in warm white (2700K-3000K) for general room lighting.
Can it be covered by loft insulation?
Yes, when used with a 6W LED lamp or lower. The downlight is IC-rated at this wattage, meaning it can be covered by insulation without overheating. Higher-wattage lamps require clearance around the fitting to dissipate heat safely.
