Description
The Knightsbridge Tilt is a GU10 fire-rated downlight with a 15° tilt mechanism housed behind a brushed chrome bezel. The tiltable lamp holder allows the GU10 bulb (sold separately) to be angled within the ceiling void to direct light onto artwork, feature walls, or specific areas of a room rather than providing only vertical downlight.
Designed for residential and commercial ceiling installation where fire rating is required by Building Regulations, the fitting carries 30/60/90-minute fire ratings for solid timber joists, 30-minute rating for web-joist construction, and 30-minute rating for I-joist (Staircraft) ceilings. The 80mm cut-out diameter fits standard ceiling apertures and the 168mm minimum void depth accommodates most UK joist spacings. Push-fit terminals allow loop-in/loop-out wiring without stripping cable or using external connectors, speeding installation on multi-downlight circuits.
The pressed steel construction includes an intumescent pad that expands under heat to seal the ceiling aperture in fire conditions, preventing flame and smoke spread between floors. The brushed chrome finish provides a neutral metallic accent that pairs with both warm and cool interior tones. The fitting accepts halogen or LED GU10 bulbs up to 35W, with dimming capability dependent on the chosen bulb. When fitted with a 6W LED or lower, the downlight meets IC (Insulation Contact) rating, allowing ceiling insulation to touch the fitting without creating a fire hazard.

Frequently Asked
What fire rating does this downlight carry?
The fitting is rated for 30/60/90 minutes on solid timber joists, 30 minutes on web-joist construction, and 30 minutes on I-joist (Staircraft) ceilings. An intumescent pad expands under heat to seal the ceiling aperture and prevent fire spread between floors.
What ceiling void depth is required?
A minimum 168mm void depth is needed to accommodate the recessed body and allow the tilt mechanism to function. The cut-out diameter is 80mm, fitting standard downlight apertures.
Can this be used with insulation touching the fitting?
Yes, when fitted with a GU10 LED bulb of 6W or lower. At this wattage the downlight meets IC (Insulation Contact) rating. With higher-wattage bulbs or halogen lamps, a clearance gap between the fitting and insulation is required to prevent overheating.
Is it dimmable?
Dimming capability depends on the GU10 bulb you fit. Dimmable LED GU10 bulbs will dim when paired with a compatible dimmer switch; non-dimmable bulbs will not. The fitting itself does not restrict dimming.
