Description
The deep black upholstery on our Reader Dark Oak Lounge Chair 78cm brings a grounded, quiet focus to a room, giving you a seat that reads as calm rather than loud. We chose black here because it settles easily into almost any scheme, whether you set it against pale walls for contrast or let it sit close in tone with a darker, cosier space. The colour works with the warmth of the dark oak beneath it, so the chair feels considered without asking for all of your attention. It is a shade we return to often because it lets the shape of a piece do the talking.
And this is a shape worth showing off. This is a high-backed lounge chair with a tall curved upholstered shell that wraps forward at the sides, cradling you as you settle in with a book or a coffee. The shell rests on an open dark oak frame, which lifts the whole piece and keeps it feeling light on its feet despite the generous back. At 105cm tall, 78cm wide and 91cm deep, it holds real presence in a reading corner or beside a window, yet the open frame stops it from crowding the floor. We find it pairs naturally with a low side table and a soft throw.
The Reader is made from solid oak, laminated veneer, MDF, PUR and polyester, so the frame stays sturdy while the shell keeps its supportive give over the years. It weighs 21.5kg and takes around 20 minutes to put together, with an assembly video to guide you. The chair carries EN 16139 (L1), the Global Recycled Standard, ANSI/BIFMA X5.4 and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®. To care for it, we suggest wiping the oak with a soft dry cloth and brushing the upholstery gently to keep it looking its best.
