Our Tenggarong metal candle holder is a tall, slender floor piece in a warm gold finish. A thin round stem rises from a flat circular foot to a small dish at the top that holds a single candle, so the whole thing reads as a fine gold line rather than a bulky object. It stands 94.5cm high and measures 21cm in diameter, which brings candlelight up from the floor to a height you notice across a room, while asking for very little floor space. It is not a light fitting, so there is no wiring and nothing to plug in: it is simply a place to stand a candle.

Because it stands on its own, it suits the places where a table would be in the way: a hallway corner, the space beside a fireplace, the end of a sofa or either side of a bedroom chest of drawers. The gold sits comfortably against pale timber, plaster and painted walls alike, and it picks up the warm glow of the flame once evening falls.
