Description

The Telford is a 15cm diameter pendant light combining a frosted white glass dome with a gold-finished metal wire cage and matching ceiling rose. The cage comprises vertical steel wires that surround the glass hemisphere, creating an open framework that reveals the light source while adding architectural interest. A single E27 bulb fitting sits inside the glass dome (bulb sold separately).

Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and hallway positions, the Telford works best when hung 700-900mm above a worktop or 650-750mm above a dining table. The adjustable cable allows the drop to be set anywhere between 49cm and 170cm during installation, accommodating ceiling heights from 2.4m standard rooms up to 3m+ double-height spaces. The gold finish on the metalwork provides warmth against both neutral and darker wall colours.

The frosted white glass diffuses direct glare from the bulb while the open wire cage allows enough light spill to illuminate the ceiling rose and cable run, preventing the fitting from appearing as a solid dark mass when viewed from below. The combination of metal and glass gives the pendant a weight of approximately 1.2kg, substantial enough to hang straight on the cable without swaying. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only.

What bulb does the Telford take?

The pendant uses a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to complement the gold finish and frosted glass.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The cable length is set during installation and cannot be easily adjusted afterwards without re-opening the ceiling rose. Choose your preferred drop height (between 49cm and 170cm) before final installation.

Is the Telford suitable for bathroom use?

No. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

What ceiling height works best?

The adjustable drop accommodates ceiling heights from 2.4m (standard UK residential) up to 3m or higher. For a dining table or kitchen island, allow 650-900mm between the bottom of the pendant and the surface below for comfortable clearance and optimal task lighting.
