Description

The Tau is a 180cm linear pendant light built around a gold-finished aluminium frame housing an integrated 21W LED in a flexible silicone neon diffuser. The LED rope runs the length of the bar in a continuous wave pattern, casting soft 3000K light downward and along the length of the fitting without visible point sources or hotspots.

Designed for dining tables longer than 1.6m, kitchen islands, and open-plan living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the Tau provides ambient and task light along an extended horizontal axis. The 180cm length suits tables seating 6-8 people or kitchen islands 2-2.5m long. The suspension cables are adjustable during installation, allowing the height to be set 700-900mm above the surface depending on ceiling height and use case.

The gold aluminium frame gives the fitting a warm metallic tone that pairs with brass cabinet hardware, gold-toned kitchen taps, and warm timber finishes. The silicone diffuser softens the LED output to avoid glare when seated at table height, while the IP20 rating confirms the fitting is for dry indoor use only. The integrated LED draws 21W on 220-240V mains and cannot be replaced, so the fitting has a service life determined by the LED module itself.

No. The 21W LED is integrated into the silicone neon diffuser and cannot be replaced. The fitting has a service life determined by the LED module, which is rated for approximately 30,000-50,000 hours depending on operating conditions.

Can the length be adjusted or shortened?

No. The 180cm length and wave configuration are fixed. The fitting arrives pre-wired and cannot be cut or adjusted on site. Maytoni produces the Tau in other lengths, so check the product range for shorter or longer variants if 180cm does not suit your space.

What table length does this suit?

The 180cm length works well over dining tables 1.6-2.2m long or kitchen islands 2-2.5m long. For shorter tables a 120cm or 150cm variant may be more proportionate; for longer tables consider the 240cm version or two Tau fittings spaced along the table.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific dimmer switch model. The integrated LED operates on 220-240V mains. Contact us before pairing with a dimmer to confirm compatibility with your installation.
