Description

The Tamar is a 235mm flush ceiling light with an opal glass diffuser set within a polished chrome mild steel frame, mounted 85mm below the ceiling. The fitting comes with a 5.7W GX53 LED bulb at 3000K colour temperature and carries an IP44 rating, making it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3, hallways, cloakrooms and utility rooms where moisture resistance is required.

Designed for rooms with low ceilings or where a recessed look is not possible, the Tamar provides ambient light across a 2-3m ceiling area without the depth requirements of a downlight. The opal glass diffuses the LED evenly across its surface, avoiding harsh glare or visible LED spots. The polished chrome frame includes decorative thumb screws and a central finial on the glass, giving a slightly classical detail that works in both period and contemporary settings.

The 85mm projection from the ceiling sits comfortably below standard 2.4m UK ceiling heights while providing clearance for taller individuals. The GX53 lamp is a flat disc-style LED that twists into the socket rather than pushing in, which keeps the overall height compact. The polished chrome finish reflects ambient light and pairs well with chrome taps, towel rails and other bathroom fittings.

What bathroom zones is this suitable for?

The IP44 rating makes the Tamar suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3 — beyond 60cm from a bath or shower edge. It is not rated for zone 1 (directly above a bath or shower) or zone 0 (inside a shower enclosure).

Does it come with a bulb?

Yes. The fitting is supplied with a 5.7W GX53 LED bulb at 3000K warm white colour temperature. Replacement GX53 bulbs are available separately when needed.

Can the bulb be replaced?

Yes. The opal glass diffuser is held by the thumb screws visible on the chrome frame. Unscrew these to access the GX53 socket. The bulb twists out and a replacement twists back in.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The 85mm projection works well in rooms with standard 2.4m ceilings or higher. In rooms with lower ceilings the fitting still mounts safely but may sit closer to head height in circulation areas.
