Description

The Swell is a 2-light bathroom wall light with a circular polished chrome backplate and two frosted glass shades shaped as stepped bell jars. Each shade houses a 3W LED G9 bulb at 3000K (warm white), supplied with the fitting. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes, making it suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3.

Designed for fitting either side of a bathroom mirror or as a central light over a basin, the Swell provides functional task lighting with a decorative American art-deco influence. The 357mm width suits single and double basins, while the 171mm projection from the wall positions the light ahead of most mirror surfaces without intruding into the space. The frosted glass diffuses the LED light evenly, minimising glare in mirror reflections.

The polished chrome finish gives high reflectivity and pairs with chrome taps, towel rails and other bathroom fittings. The stepped glass shades reference early 20th-century theatre and hotel lighting, giving the fitting more character than typical bathroom bars. The steel construction supports the weight of the glass without flex, and the IP44 seal around the lamp holders protects internal wiring from moisture ingress in steamy bathroom conditions.

What bathroom zones does IP44 cover?

IP44 is rated for zones 2 and 3 in UK bathroom regulations. This means it can be fitted over a basin, next to a mirror, or on perimeter walls away from direct shower spray. It is not rated for zone 0 (inside the bath or shower enclosure) or zone 1 (directly above the bath or shower).

Are the bulbs replaceable?

Yes. The fitting takes standard G9 LED bulbs up to 3W. The supplied bulbs are 3000K warm white, but if you prefer a cooler or warmer temperature in future, any G9 LED can be substituted as long as it stays within the 3W maximum rating.

Can this be mounted vertically as well as horizontally?

The Swell is designed for horizontal mounting with the two lights extending left and right from a central backplate. Vertical mounting is not recommended as the weight distribution and shade orientation would not work correctly.

What's the recommended height for mounting over a basin?

For even face lighting without glare, mount the Swell at approximately 1.6-1.8m from the floor, which typically places it just above head height when standing at the basin. If fitting either side of a mirror rather than above, position at mid-mirror height.
