Sunset Downlight 65mm - Gold

The smallest of the Sunset recessed bases, this one shows a slim gold rim at ceiling level and hides its body above the line. The visible face is 65mm across, so once the surrounding ceiling is painted it reads as little more than a bright point rather than a fitting. The gold has enough warmth to be noticed at close range, on a landing wall or above a worktop, without pulling attention across a room.

We reach for the small Sunset when a ceiling needs light in several places and none of them should announce itself: a run along a hallway, a line above a kitchen run, light dropped into an alcove or over shelving. Because the aperture is modest, the lights sit comfortably in tight ceilings and in rooms where a larger recessed ring would look heavy. It suits anyone building a scheme from repeated small points instead of one central fitting, and it pairs well with wall lights doing the softer work at eye level. For dry rooms indoors, on a normal household circuit.

The base is a plain cylinder finished in gold on the face you see, with nothing on show to gather grime beyond the rim itself. Keep it looking right with a dry duster or a soft brush now and then, and keep sprays, creams and solvents well away from the finish, as they will take the sheen off the gold. It carries a three year warranty. The cut out is 55mm. The rim covers the edge of the opening once the base is in place.

Is a light source included?

No. This is the recessed base only, so the lamp or module is chosen to suit it.

Can I mix sizes from the range?

Yes. All the Sunset bases share the same clean cylindrical shape, so a 65mm rim in a corridor sits happily alongside a wider one in a living room.

How should I clean the gold rim?

A dry cloth or soft brush is all it needs. Avoid polishes, kitchen sprays and anything abrasive, which will mark the finish.

Will it look right in a low ceiling?

Yes, that is one of its strengths. The small aperture keeps the ceiling quiet where a bigger ring would dominate.
