Description

Small, dark and deliberately plain, this is the 65mm size in the Sunset range of recessed bases. The black face reads more like a shadow in the ceiling than a fitting, which is rather the point: the eye lands on the light itself and not on the trim around it. The body is a short, straight-sided cylinder that sits back into the ceiling void, with a clean circular rim on show.

This is the size we reach for when a ceiling is already busy, or when the light needs to be present without being counted. Think a run of them down a hallway, a line washing a wall of shelving, or discreet task light over a worktop in a small kitchen. Because it is non-electrical, the light source is specified separately, which makes it useful when you want the beam and colour of light to be a considered choice rather than something decided for you. It suits pared-back rooms, low ceilings and anyone who would rather not see hardware.

The finish is a solid, even black across the visible rim, and it stays looking that way with very little attention: a dry cloth now and then, no solvents and nothing gritty, since the colour sits on the surface. Switch off at the wall before you touch anything above head height. It carries a three year warranty. We stock the same base in gold and white if you want the ring to pick up on ironmongery or disappear into a pale ceiling instead, and there are four larger sizes in the range should you need a wider aperture elsewhere in the same room.
