Description

The Sun King is a 318mm starburst wall light built around a circular gold leaf frame radiating approximately 20 metal spikes outward, interspersed with faceted K9 cut crystal points. A single E14 candle bulb sits at the centre, held in a gold leaf tube that projects forward from the black diamond-shaped backplate. The metal rays and crystal accents create a dimensional sunburst effect that casts layered shadows and reflections on surrounding walls when lit.

Designed for hallways, stairwells, powder rooms and accent wall positions in living spaces, the Sun King functions as both task and decorative lighting. The 127mm projection from the wall makes it suitable for positions above console tables, either side of a mirror, or flanking a feature painting where the light adds visual interest without obstructing traffic flow. The black diamond backplate provides contrast behind the gold frame and conceals the wall mounting points.

The gold leaf finish shows subtle variations in tone and texture across the metal surface, giving each fitting a hand-applied appearance rather than a uniform plated look. The K9 crystal points are faceted rather than smooth, designed to catch and refract light from the central bulb. The E14 fitting accepts bulbs up to 40W, allowing choice between warm filament-style LEDs for a softer glow or brighter daylight LEDs for functional hallway lighting.

No. The fitting takes an E14 candle bulb up to 40W, sold separately. Most users pair this with a 4-6W LED filament bulb in warm white (2700K) to show off the gold leaf and crystal details.

How is it mounted to the wall?

The black diamond backplate fixes to a standard wall bracket or back box via concealed screws. The gold starburst frame then attaches to the front of the backplate, hiding the fixings. The fitting weighs approximately 1.2kg and should be fixed to solid wall or a secure anchor point.

Is the gold leaf finish durable?

Gold leaf applied to metal is more delicate than plated or powder-coated finishes. Avoid touching the metal rays during installation and use. For cleaning, dust gently with a soft dry brush rather than wiping with a cloth.

Can the crystal accents be cleaned?

Yes. The K9 crystal points can be wiped with a slightly damp microfibre cloth to remove dust. Avoid spraying cleaners directly onto the fitting — spray onto the cloth first to prevent liquid seeping into the bulb holder.
