Description
The St Louis is a single-light outdoor wall lantern with a hand-blown glass shade enclosed in a weathered bronze metal frame, suspended from a curved wall bracket with a decorative top hook. The lantern houses one E27 bulb (sold separately) behind clear glass panels, casting light outward through the glass and downward onto the wall surface below the fitting.
Designed for front porches, side entrances, garage exteriors and garden walls, the St Louis brings functional outdoor lighting to areas that need visibility after dark. The 230mm projection from the wall gives enough clearance to light a doorway or path without the lantern body obstructing door swings or gate openings. The IP44 rating protects against rain and dust ingress from any direction, making the fitting suitable for exposed positions facing prevailing weather.
The weathered bronze finish is a dark, textured patina over the cast aluminium frame, showing copper tones beneath the surface layer where the metal appears aged. This finish works with brick, stone, painted render and timber cladding in traditional, cottage and period-style exteriors. The hand-blown glass means each lantern shade carries slight variations in thickness and bubble patterns, giving individual character to the fitting when lit at night.
At 400mm height and 185mm width, the St Louis sits between compact wall lanterns suited to narrow doorways and larger coach lights intended for wide facades. The medium size works on both single-storey and two-storey elevations, typically mounted at 1600-1800mm above ground level beside a door or at 2000-2200mm when flanking a larger entrance.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the St Louis take?
The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations use a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for a traditional lantern glow.
Can it be used in exposed positions facing rain?
Yes. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction and dust ingress, making the St Louis suitable for positions directly exposed to weather including porches without overhead cover.
How is the glass cleaned?
The hand-blown glass panels can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and glass cleaner. Turn off the mains supply before cleaning and allow the bulb to cool if the light has been on recently.
What mounting surface is needed?
The wall bracket requires a solid masonry surface (brick, stone, block, timber stud with noggin) capable of supporting approximately 2kg. Use appropriate fixings for the wall type and ensure the cable entry point is weatherproofed with appropriate outdoor cable glands.
