Description

The Spectra is a 30cm cube-shaped outdoor light moulded from white opal plastic with an IP44 weather-resistance rating and a metal ground spike for soft-soil installation. The fitting takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately) housed inside the translucent cube body, which diffuses the light evenly across all six faces.

Designed for patios, garden paths, decking edges and border planting where low-level accent lighting is needed, the Spectra ships with a 1130mm cable and UK plug, allowing it to be positioned up to 1.1m from an outdoor socket or weatherproof extension lead. The ground spike pushes into soil, grass or gravel beds to a depth of approximately 100mm, holding the cube stable without needing a concrete base or fixing plate. The 300mm cube sits low enough to light pathways without creating glare at eye level.

The opal plastic shell weighs less than 1kg and resists UV fading and impact better than glass equivalents, making it suitable for gardens where footballs, garden furniture and accidental kicks are likely. The IP44 rating protects against rain and splashing but the fitting is not submersible — avoid locations where standing water collects. The white finish reflects daylight when unlit, so the cubes read as decorative garden features rather than purely functional fittings during daytime.

The Spectra takes a standard E27 screw bulb. For outdoor use, a 6-10W LED bulb rated for outdoor applications is recommended. Choose 2700K-3000K warm white for ambient garden lighting or 4000K-5000K cool white for functional path lighting. Bulbs are sold separately.

Can it be used on hard surfaces like paving?

The Spectra ships with a ground spike designed for soft soil, grass or gravel. For hard paving, decking or concrete, the spike would need to be removed and the fitting placed on the surface with the cable run underneath or through a drilled cable channel. There is no dedicated base plate for hard-surface mounting.

Is it weatherproof year-round?

The IP44 rating protects against rain, splashing and general outdoor exposure. The fitting can remain outdoors throughout the year in typical UK weather. Avoid locations where the cube would sit in standing water or heavy snow accumulation, as IP44 does not cover submersion.

How far can it be positioned from a power source?

The supplied cable is 1130mm long, allowing the cube to be positioned up to 1.1m from an outdoor socket. For greater distances, use a weatherproof outdoor extension lead rated for outdoor use.
