Description

The Sparx is a surface mounting kit for pendant lights, consisting of a white powder-coated steel ceiling cup (45mm diameter, 40mm projection) with two fixing screws, two wall plugs and two washers. The kit provides a direct-to-ceiling mounting point for pendant cable suspensions where a recessed ceiling rose is not available or desired, converting a recessed-fitting pendant into a surface-mount installation.

Designed for residential and light commercial installation, the kit suits kitchens, living rooms and hallways where the ceiling construction prevents recessing a rose or where the pendant needs to hang from a solid ceiling surface. The 45mm diameter cup is compact enough to sit behind most pendant canopies and large enough to cover a standard UK ceiling fixing point. The 40mm projection accounts for the depth of the cable entry point and the fixing screws, keeping the installation close to the ceiling plane.

The white powder-coated steel finish matches standard white ceilings and most white pendant canopies, minimising visual impact when the ceiling cup is partially visible around the edge of the canopy. The kit includes all fixings needed for installation onto plasterboard with timber joists behind, or masonry ceilings. The two-screw fixing provides adequate support for typical pendant weights up to 2-3kg.

Yes, provided there is a timber joist or noggin behind the plasterboard at the fixing point. The included wall plugs are suitable for masonry or timber-backed plasterboard. For hollow plasterboard with no joist support, cavity fixings (not included) would be needed.
