Description

The Sparx is an adjustable metal mounting bracket designed for installing recessed ceiling fixtures, supplied with fixings as a complete kit. The bracket measures 115mm in length and offers up to 45mm of adjustable projection, allowing it to bridge different ceiling cavity depths and accommodate various back box configurations.

Used primarily in residential and commercial recessed lighting installations, the bracket secures between ceiling joists or onto solid substrates, providing a stable mounting point for downlights, spotlights and other recessed fittings. The adjustable projection allows the bracket to be set to the exact depth needed to align the fixture flush with the ceiling surface, compensating for variations in plasterboard thickness and cavity depth between different ceiling types.

Manufactured by Ideal Lux in Italy, the bracket is constructed from galvanised steel with a zinc-plated finish that resists corrosion in ceiling voids where moisture and temperature fluctuations are common. The perforated feet distribute load across a wider surface area on the ceiling substrate, reducing the risk of pull-through on plasterboard installations. The kit includes the bracket, fixings and a threaded boss for attaching the light fitting.

Frequently Asked

What ceiling types is this bracket suitable for?

The Sparx bracket works on plasterboard ceilings fixed to timber or metal joists, and on solid ceilings where fixings can be drilled and plugged. The perforated feet provide load distribution for plasterboard installations, while the adjustable projection compensates for different cavity depths.

How much weight can it support?

The bracket is designed to support typical recessed downlights and spotlights. The exact load capacity depends on the ceiling substrate and fixing method used. For heavier fittings, ensure fixings penetrate into joists or solid substrate rather than relying on plasterboard alone.

What's included in the kit?

The kit includes the adjustable metal bracket, mounting screws for fixing to the ceiling substrate, and a threaded boss for attaching the light fitting to the bracket. The image shows the complete kit contents.

Can the projection be adjusted after installation?

The projection is set during installation by positioning the bracket at the required depth before tightening the fixings. Once installed and plastered around, adjusting the projection would require removing and re-fitting the bracket.
