Solarae 12 Light Chandelier - Polished Chrome

The Solarae is a 12-light chandelier from Ideal Lux, built around a central polished chrome stem with twelve radiating arms, each terminating in a clear blown glass globe. Each globe houses a single G4 halogen or LED capsule bulb (sold separately), creating twelve distinct points of light across a 1281mm span. The blown glass diffuses the light evenly while remaining transparent enough to show the internal bulb structure when lit.

Designed for large dining tables, open-plan kitchen-dining areas and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above, the Solarae provides both ambient and decorative function across a wide footprint. The 593mm overall height from canopy to lowest globe sits comfortably 700-900mm above a 2.4m or 3m dining table when fitted with standard suspension cable. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor locations only.

The polished chrome arms and central stem create a mirror-like reflective surface that amplifies light output and pairs with both cool-toned contemporary interiors and warmer traditional settings where chrome accents are present. The asymmetric arrangement of the arms gives the fitting visual weight without perfect symmetry, making it appear more sculptural than geometrically rigid. Each blown glass globe varies slightly in exact diameter and bubble distribution due to the hand-blown manufacturing process, so no two Solarae fittings are identical when closely inspected.

What bulbs does it take?

The Solarae requires twelve G4 capsule bulbs, sold separately. Both halogen and LED G4 capsules are compatible. Most users choose 2W-3W LED G4 bulbs in 2700K-3000K for warm-white ambient light.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 593mm overall height works best in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above. When suspended 700-900mm above a dining table surface, this requires a minimum ceiling height of approximately 2.4m to avoid the fitting sitting too low in the room.

Is it dimmable?

The fitting itself is not rated as dimmable. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific G4 bulbs you install, some LED G4 capsules are dimmable, others are not. Check the bulb specification before pairing with a dimmer.

What width dining table does it suit?

The 1281mm diameter span suits dining tables between 2.4m and 3m long. For narrower tables the fitting may overhang the table edge excessively; for tables longer than 3m consider pairing two smaller chandeliers instead.
