Description

The Solara is a 330mm outdoor wall light built from powder-coated die-cast aluminium in a black finish, with dual sandblasted tempered glass diffusers that direct light both upward and downward from a single E27 bulb. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making the fitting suitable for exterior walls exposed to rain and coastal moisture.

Designed for installation on external walls at doorways, along pathways, or flanking garage doors, the Solara provides ambient illumination with a controlled spread. The 80mm projection keeps the fitting close to the wall without protruding into walkways or head clearance zones. The dual-diffuser design casts light onto the wall above and below the fitting, creating a halo effect that softens the appearance of blank walls at night while providing enough downward light for safe navigation.

The die-cast aluminium body withstands thermal cycling, UV exposure and salt air better than pressed steel or plastic housings. The powder-coated black finish is applied after casting, providing a durable surface that resists chipping and corrosion. The sandblasted glass softens the light output from the E27 bulb, reducing glare while maintaining effective illumination across a 2-3m radius from the fitting.

Frequently Asked

What bulb does the Solara take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Bulbs are sold separately. For outdoor use, a warm-white LED between 8-15W and 2700K-3000K works well, providing sufficient light without excessive energy consumption.

Can it be used in coastal locations?

Yes. The die-cast aluminium body and powder-coated finish resist salt-air corrosion better than pressed steel or plastic housings. The IP54 rating protects internal components from moisture ingress. Regular rinsing with fresh water extends the finish life in high-salt environments.

Is the Solara dimmable?

The fitting itself is dimmable if paired with a dimmable E27 bulb and a compatible dimmer switch. Check the bulb packaging to confirm dimmer compatibility before installation.

How is the glass cleaned?

The sandblasted tempered glass can be wiped with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Avoid abrasive cleaners that might scratch the sandblasted surface. The glass diffusers are fixed to the body and are not user-removable.
