Description

This is a smart LED globe bulb in an opal finish, with a standard E27 screw cap. The opal globe spreads the light from the LEDs into an even, soft glow without a hard bright spot, which matters most when the bulb hangs on show in an open pendant. It runs at 14W and gives 1,600lm, a generous output for one bulb, and it carries energy class E. Because this is a bulb rather than a fitting, the lamp or pendant that holds it decides where it belongs.

We like it in a bedroom, where a bare globe on a pendant cord becomes part of the look and the light can change through the day. Colour changing and adjustable colour temperature mean one bulb covers a crisp white for reading, a warmer white for winding down in the evening and a wash of colour whenever the mood calls for one. It suits anyone making a start on a smart home without replacing their light fittings: screw it into an E27 lampholder in a pendant, table lamp or floor lamp and that light can be controlled by app.

The bulb is controlled by app and is dimmable, so you can set it bright for a busy room or bring it down to a low glow late at night. It also works with a remote control, which is sold separately and is not in the box. The opal globe is easy to keep looking its best: once the bulb is switched off and cool, a wipe with a soft, dry cloth is all it needs. Before ordering, check that your lamp or pendant takes an E27 screw cap, since that is the cap this bulb uses.
