Description

This Maytoni recessed downlight houses a single GU10 bulb fitting inside a 126mm square matt black metal frame, with a tiltable inner gimbal that allows the beam to be adjusted after installation. The fitting recesses into a ceiling void with a 72mm depth requirement and sits flush when installed, presenting as a clean square aperture with a black inner bezel.

Designed for directional accent lighting in residential and commercial interiors, the tiltable fitting suits spotlighting artwork, highlighting architectural features, or creating focused pools of light across hallways, retail spaces and gallery walls. The GU10 socket accepts any standard LED, halogen or low-energy GU10 bulb up to 50W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose beam angle, colour temperature and brightness depending on the application. The gimbal tilts approximately 30 degrees from vertical, allowing the beam to be directed without needing to reposition the ceiling cutout.

The matt black finish on the metal frame absorbs ambient light and gives a defined edge to the aperture, preventing the fitting from reflecting overhead light back into the room. The IP20 rating means the downlight is suitable for dry interior locations including living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, commercial spaces and offices, but is not rated for bathrooms or outdoor use. The 126mm square frame pairs with modern, industrial and minimalist interiors where a rectilinear aperture is preferred over a traditional circular downlight.

The fitting requires a minimum 72mm ceiling void depth to accommodate the downlight housing and lampholder. The 126mm square frame sits flush with the ceiling surface once installed.

What bulb does it take?

The downlight takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 50W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations pair this with a GU10 LED between 5-7W and 2700K-4000K depending on whether warm or neutral white light is needed.

How much can the inner fitting tilt?

The inner gimbal tilts approximately 30 degrees from vertical, allowing the beam to be angled towards a wall, artwork or architectural feature without needing to reposition the ceiling cutout.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the downlight is suitable for dry interior locations only. Bathrooms require downlights rated IP44 or higher depending on the zone.
