Description
A plain, unbroken cover for a point that is no longer wanted, finished in light grey with a screwless front that clips over its frame so nothing breaks up the face. The plate measures 88mm square, the standard single gang size, and sits close to the wall with softly eased edges. There is nothing to look at but a clean panel of moulded polycarbonate.
Blanking plates earn their keep after a rewire or a change of layout, where a television point, a flex outlet or an old switch position has been made redundant and is better closed off than left open. We reach for one whenever a room is being tidied up and there is a gap in an otherwise neat run of accessories. The light grey suits garages, workshops, plant rooms, utility spaces and the working ends of kitchens where grey accessories are already in use, and it reads far less obtrusively than white against grey paintwork. It is meant for indoor positions only.
The body is polycarbonate, a tough moulded plastic that holds its colour rather than yellowing, and the grey runs through the material so a knock or a scuff does not show up as a pale mark. Cleaning asks for little more than a wipe with a barely damp cloth and a drop of washing up liquid; keep spirits, kitchen sprays and abrasive creams away from the surface, as they will dull it. It carries a ten year warranty. We stock this one in light grey, and it is the piece we would choose to close off an unused point properly rather than leave an opening on show.

Frequently Asked
What size is the plate?
It is 88mm by 88mm, the usual single gang footprint, so it lines up with standard switches and sockets in the same run.
What is it made from?
Moulded polycarbonate in light grey, coloured throughout rather than painted on the surface.
Why is it called screwless?
The visible front clips over a separate frame, so there are no screw heads on the face and the plate reads as one flat panel.
How should I clean it?
A barely damp cloth with a little washing up liquid is enough. Avoid solvents, bleach sprays and abrasive creams, which can mark the grey.
Is it suitable for a bathroom or outdoors?
No. It is rated IP20 and intended for dry indoor rooms only.
Does it come with a warranty?
Yes, it carries a ten year warranty.
