Description

Sometimes the tidiest thing on a wall is nothing at all. This blank plate gives a flat charcoal face in a single gang size, 88mm square, closing off a spot where a switch or socket is no longer wanted. The screwless format leaves the front free of screw heads, so the eye passes over it rather than stopping. It is small, light and quietly dark, and set against a wall painted in a deeper shade it all but disappears. We keep blanks like this on the shelf because a rewire or a change of plan almost always leaves one opening spare.

It earns its place in kitchens where an appliance has moved, in media walls where cables now run elsewhere, and in offices and hallways after a change of layout. Anyone working through a whole house in charcoal accessories will want one or two to hand, since a matching blank keeps a run of plates looking deliberate rather than half finished. It is also the sensible answer on a point that has been taken out of use but still needs covering neatly. We reach for it whenever a wall would otherwise be left looking unfinished.

The plate is moulded in polycarbonate, a hard-wearing plastic that holds its colour well and shrugs off the odd knock in a busy room. It is meant for indoor rooms only. Cleaning asks very little: a wipe with a barely damp cloth, keeping solvents, cream cleaners and scouring pads well away, as those will dull the surface. It carries a ten year warranty. Visually it sits happily with darker paints, smoked glass and black ironmongery, in schemes where the electrical accessories are supposed to recede rather than draw the eye.

Frequently Asked

What size is the plate?

The face is 88mm by 88mm, the standard single gang square, in a charcoal finish.

What is it made from?

It is moulded polycarbonate, a tough plastic that resists knocks and keeps its charcoal colour in daily use.

Will I see any screws on the front?

No. It is a screwless plate, so the visible face is a clean, unbroken square with no screw heads.

Can it be used in a bathroom or outside?

It is rated IP20 and suitable for indoor use only, so keep it to dry rooms rather than shower zones or exterior walls.

How should I clean it?

Wipe the face with a soft cloth, barely damp if needed. Avoid solvents, cream cleaners and abrasive pads, which will mark the surface.

Is there a warranty?

Yes, the plate carries a ten year warranty.
