Description
The Knightsbridge T8LB15 is a 1525mm (5ft) single-tube batten fitting supplied without a ballast or driver, pre-wired for use with self-ballasted T8 LED tubes. The batten accepts one T8 LED tube up to 1500mm in length (tube sold separately), with bi-pin lampholders at each end and internal wiring that routes mains voltage directly to the lampholder pins.
Designed for utility installation in workshops, garages, storage areas, plant rooms and commercial spaces where functional overhead task lighting is required, the batten mounts to ceiling or wall via two keyhole slots on the rear pressed steel tray. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor environments only. The compact 63mm width and 80mm projection allow installation in low-clearance areas above racking, workbenches and along wall-ceiling junctions where headroom is limited.
The white powder-coated pressed steel construction weighs approximately 400g, making the batten light enough to fix with standard plasterboard or masonry anchors. Because the fitting has no ballast or driver, it cannot be used with traditional fluorescent tubes — only with T8 LED tubes that carry their own internal driver circuitry. This reduces the fitting's depth and weight compared to ballasted battens, but restricts compatibility to LED-only operation. Dimmability depends entirely on whether the LED tube fitted supports dimming.

Frequently Asked
Can this batten be used with fluorescent tubes?
No. The batten is supplied without a ballast or driver and is pre-wired for self-ballasted T8 LED tubes only. Traditional fluorescent tubes require a ballast to regulate current, which this fitting does not have.
What T8 LED tube does it take?
Any T8 LED tube up to 1500mm in length with integrated driver circuitry. The tube must be self-ballasted (carrying its own internal driver) as the batten provides only mains voltage to the bi-pin lampholders. Tubes are sold separately.
Is it dimmable?
Dimming depends entirely on the LED tube fitted. If the tube supports dimming, the batten will pass the dimmed mains voltage through. If the tube is non-dimmable, the batten cannot add dimming capability.
Can it be used in bathrooms or outdoors?
No. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry indoor environments only. For bathrooms, garages or outdoor canopy areas, an IP44 or higher-rated batten is required.
