The Selvarn is a 670mm table lamp built around a solid green marble block split by a diagonal white stone band, set on a polished brass plinth and topped with a rectangular white PVC shade. A slender brass stem rises from the marble to the shade, and a single E27 lamp socket sits beneath. The marble carries dense black-green tones with pale veining, giving each piece its own pattern.

The lamp suits console tables, sideboards, bedside positions in larger bedrooms, and end tables in living rooms where a sculptural rather than purely functional light is wanted. The 400mm length and 200mm width give the base a substantial footprint, so it reads best on surfaces of 500mm depth or more. The white rectangular shade casts light downwards over the marble and outwards across the surface beneath, working as a soft ambient source rather than focused task light.

The diagonal white band cuts across the marble block at an angle, breaking the rectangular form into two offset sections and giving the base its architectural character. Does the marble vary between pieces?

Yes. The base is cut from natural marble, so the depth of green, the pattern of pale veining and the exact placement of the diagonal white stone band differ between individual lamps. This is a feature of the natural stone rather than a defect.

What size surface does it suit?

With a 400mm by 200mm footprint and a 670mm overall height, the Selvarn reads best on console tables, sideboards and larger end tables of 500mm depth or more. It can work as a bedside lamp in larger bedrooms but is taller and broader than a typical compact bedside light.

How is the marble cleaned?

Wipe the marble with a soft dry cloth, or a barely-damp cloth with plain water for marks. Avoid acidic cleaners, vinegar, citrus sprays and abrasive pads, as these can etch or dull the polished surface. The brass base can be cleaned with a soft dry cloth.
