Description
The Sedgehurst medium pendant hangs a 400mm multicoloured Tiffany-style leaded glass shade from a metal suspension, adjustable between 490mm and 1440mm. One 60W E27 GLS bulb lights it, and bulbs are supplied separately. The panels are cut individually and joined with lead, so the light through them carries colour and the pattern still reads with the bulb off, which matters for a ceiling light in constant view. It weighs 3kg and is Class 2, double insulated, so it does not need an earth at the ceiling rose.
At 400mm this is the size that suits most rooms as a single pendant. It hangs well over a round dining table, a breakfast bar, a hall table or in a bedroom, and the near metre of adjustment covers low ceilings and stairwells alike. Above a dining surface, leave roughly 750mm to 900mm so the glass sits in view without blocking the person opposite. One bulb gives an ambient wash, warm and coloured, so keep task lighting elsewhere for cooking or reading.
A metal frame carries the leaded glass and the flex can be set to length when it is fitted. Dust the shade with a dry soft cloth; use a barely damp cloth for marks and dry the lead lines straight after. Solvents, ammonia-based sprays and abrasive creams dull leadwork, so keep them off. It is rated IP20 and belongs in dry indoor rooms. With a dimmable bulb and compatible dimmer the level drops nicely for evenings. A Sedgehurst floor lamp and table lamp use the same glass if you want to build the room around it.

Frequently Asked
What drop does it give?
Between 490mm and 1440mm, with the flex shortened at installation, so it suits low ceilings, halls and stairwells alike.
What is the shade made from?
Multicoloured leaded glass in the Tiffany style, cut into panels and joined with lead, held in a metal frame.
Does it need an earth?
It is Class 2, double insulated, so no earth is required at the ceiling rose. Electrical work should still be carried out by a competent person.
Which bulb does it take?
One 60W E27 GLS bulb, not included. Choose a dimmable bulb if you want to run it on a compatible dimmer.
How high above a table should it hang?
Roughly 750mm to 900mm above the tabletop, which keeps the glass in view without blocking the eye line across the table.
How do I clean it?
Dust with a dry soft cloth, use a barely damp cloth for marks and dry the lead lines. Avoid solvents, ammonia-based sprays and abrasive creams.
