Scout Outdoor 1 Light Wall Light - Black

The Scout is a 165mm square outdoor wall light with a matt black metal body, three decorative brass screws on the faceplate, and a single downward-facing GU10 bulb. The curved metal shade wraps around the bulb housing and directs light downward through a white diffuser at the base, creating a pool of illumination on the ground below.

Designed for external walls at doorways, porches, patios and pathway entries, the Scout provides task lighting where a clean downward wash is needed without upward light spill. The IP44 rating protects against water splash from any direction, making it suitable for exposed positions under eaves or covered entrances. The compact 165mm width and 120mm projection suit walls with limited space and allow multiple fittings to be spaced at 1-1.5m intervals along a pathway without visual clutter.

The matt black finish hides minor weathering and pairs with both contemporary render and traditional brick exteriors. The three brass screws on the front plate contrast with the black body, adding a visible mechanical detail that references industrial and workshop lighting. The fitting includes one 8W GU10 LED bulb at 3000K warm white and is backed by a 5-year manufacturer guarantee from Hinkley.

Product Specification Sheet

Does it come with a bulb?

Yes. The Scout includes one 8W GU10 LED bulb at 3000K warm white. Replacement bulbs are standard GU10 format, widely available, and can be swapped for different colour temperatures or brightness levels up to the 8W maximum rating.

Can it be used in fully exposed positions?

The IP44 rating protects against water splash from any direction, making it suitable for positions under eaves, covered porches and recessed doorways. For fully exposed walls with no overhead protection, a higher IP rating (IP65) would provide better long-term weather resistance.

What wall mounting is required?

The Scout fixes to a standard outdoor back box using the rear baseplate. The electrical cable feeds through the wall into the back of the fitting. Installation requires mains wiring by a qualified electrician and should be connected via an RCD-protected circuit.

How much light does the 8W GU10 produce?

An 8W GU10 LED typically produces 600-700 lumens, sufficient to light a 2-3m radius on the ground below the fitting. This suits porch steps, doorway approaches and patio seating areas where localized task lighting is needed rather than wide area flood lighting.
