Description
The Saxon is a 3 light chandelier built around a circular wrought iron frame finished in black with silver patina detailing, suspended on an adjustable chain from a ceiling rose. Three candle-style arms project from the central ring, each holding an E14 bulb fitting (bulbs sold separately). Decorative hammered metal panels sit between the arms, adding textural detail to the frame and referencing medieval metalwork.
Designed for dining rooms, entrance halls and living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.4m or higher, the Saxon provides ambient and decorative light across a 520mm diameter. The 800mm chain allows the drop to be adjusted between 465mm minimum and 960mm maximum on installation, making it suitable for ceilings between 2.4m and 3.2m. The black wrought iron gives structural definition while the silver patina softens the edges and highlights the hammered detail on the panels.
The wrought iron frame carries the weight of three candle fittings and the decorative panels without sagging or flexing when hung, giving the chandelier a solid 3kg presence. The black finish has a low-sheen texture rather than a gloss coat, reducing reflections under daylight and pairing comfortably with both period interiors (Tudor, Jacobean, Arts and Crafts) and contemporary spaces where darker metalwork is used as contrast. The silver patina is applied by hand, so the exact distribution of lighter tones varies between individual pieces.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Saxon take?
The chandelier takes three E14 (small Edison screw) candle bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a traditional candle-glow effect.
What ceiling height is needed?
The 800mm chain allows the chandelier to be adjusted between 465mm minimum drop and 960mm maximum drop on installation. For a typical dining table or hall position, ceiling heights of 2.4m or above work best. Lower ceilings can still accommodate the Saxon if the chain is shortened during fitting.
Does the silver patina wear or tarnish?
The silver patina is a decorative finish applied by hand during manufacture. It does not tarnish in the way solid silver does, but the contrast between black base and silver highlights may soften slightly over time in high-humidity environments such as coastal locations.
Is the frame solid or hollow?
The wrought iron frame is solid metal, giving the chandelier structural rigidity and a 3kg weight. The hammered panels are solid beaten metal rather than pressed sheet, which adds to the hand-forged character of the piece.
