Description

The Saxon is a single wall light built around a wrought iron frame finished in black, paired with a hammered metal backplate treated with a silver patina. The candle-style holder at the end of a turned iron arm takes one E14 bulb (sold separately), and the backplate shows a hand-beaten texture that catches light differently across its surface depending on the angle of view.

Designed for hallways, entrance areas, staircases and alcoves where wall-mounted accent lighting is needed without a large footprint, the Saxon provides directed upward light through the exposed bulb. The black iron contrasts with the silver-toned backplate, giving the fitting a two-tone finish that works in both period properties with exposed beams and contemporary interiors seeking a medieval accent. The fixture projects approximately 180mm from the wall once mounted.

The wrought iron construction and hammered metalwork reference medieval torch sconces, but the silver patina treatment softens the overall appearance compared to fully blackened or rusted finishes. The turned details on the arm and the tapered point below the backplate add depth to the silhouette when viewed from the side. The Saxon takes one E14 small Edison screw bulb, sold separately. Most users pair this with a candle-shaped LED or decorative filament bulb between 3-6W and 2200K-2700K to match the medieval styling.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The Saxon carries no IP rating and is designed for interior use only. The silver patina finish and wrought iron construction are not weather-sealed for outdoor exposure.

How far does it project from the wall?

The fitting projects approximately 180mm from the wall once mounted, measured from the backplate to the tip of the bulb holder. This allows clearance for the candle bulb to sit upright without touching the wall.

Is the silver patina applied by hand?

The silver patina is applied during manufacture to the hammered backplate. The finish shows tonal variation across the surface where the patina settles into the recesses of the beaten metal texture, so each piece differs slightly in appearance.
