Description

The Sawyer is a 610mm diameter outdoor chandelier with six cylindrical seeded glass shades arranged around a circular wood-effect frame in dark brown, suspended on a black chain. Each glass cylinder houses an E14 bulb (sold separately) behind clear seeded glass that diffuses light while protecting the bulb from weather exposure. The IP44 rating confirms protection against splashing water from any direction, making it suitable for covered outdoor spaces such as pergolas, verandas and patio areas with overhead shelter.

Designed for outdoor entertaining zones, the Sawyer sits 700-1000mm above a dining table or seating area, casting downward and outward light across the space below. The 2225mm maximum drop allows flexibility in installation across different ceiling heights, with the chain adjustable during fitting. The circular frame sits horizontally, distributing the six lights evenly around the perimeter so no single side of the table sits in shadow. The open construction allows natural airflow and prevents heat buildup around the bulbs.

The wood-effect finish on the metal frame provides a warm rustic tone that pairs with timber decking, stone paving and natural outdoor furniture. The seeded glass adds subtle texture when lit, scattering light into a soft glow rather than harsh directional beams. The black chain and ceiling canopy provide a neutral anchor that works against white-painted pergola beams, natural timber ceilings or dark-stained outdoor structures. Each E14 socket accepts bulbs up to 40W, giving control over brightness and colour temperature depending on the specific LED chosen.

Can this be used in fully exposed outdoor locations?

No. The IP44 rating protects against splashing water but not sustained rain or direct hose spray. The Sawyer requires overhead shelter such as a pergola roof, veranda ceiling or covered patio. Fully exposed locations need IP65 or higher.

What bulbs does it take?

Six E14 small Edison screw bulbs, each up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with 4-6W LED candle or filament-style bulbs in warm white (2700K-3000K) for outdoor ambiance.

How is the drop length adjusted?

The chandelier comes with 1524mm of chain. During installation the chain can be shortened by removing links to achieve the desired drop, with the minimum being 591mm (the height of the fitting itself) and maximum 2225mm when the full chain length is used.

Is the wood-effect finish real timber?

No. The frame is metal finished to resemble dark brown wood. This provides the rustic appearance of timber without the weathering, warping or maintenance issues that real wood would face in outdoor conditions.
